Process

Please follow these steps to complete this WebQuest:

1. Start with the Introduction.

2. Next, work together with the class on the Background activities.

3. After that, each person should take a different Role within your team of four:

3. Within role-alike groups (e.g., biographers from different teams working together), read the resources and answer the questions specified for your Role. You may want to do additional research to answer questions you might have and further build your expertise. If so, you can start with the extra links on the Resources page or browse links connected to the references that have been provided. Note that you will find text, images, audio and video clips, and links to other sites within many of the multimedia resources listed. There are many primary sources included among the materials embedded in this WebQuest. When using these materials in your exhibit, be sure to cite the sources. You may want to use a tool like NoodleBib to help you with citations.

4. Once you have discussed what you learned with others who share your role, go back to your original team and contribute your perspective to the group's response to the Team Exhibit Questions you have selected. Your team may respond in any way it chooses, and the exhibit may take any form. Review the Task for more direction as you develop your exhibit. In addition, think about how your exhibit might reach a broader audience than the class and plan an outreach activity of some kind, whether a performance, an exhibition, a publication, or some other effort to educate others.

5. After your team exhibit is done, you will be asked to present it to the class. In preparation for this, please complete an Exhibit Summary individually. Your presentation should include mention of the outreach component for your exhibit.

6. Finally, please join the whole class again in the Closing activities.
